The quick read
  • Apple Home Collection brings cameras, a doorbell, a lock and climate accessories to Apple Home.
  • Availability starts in December, with selected products arriving in early 2027.
  • Apple says setup uses an iPhone without additional manufacturer apps or accounts.

Apple announced Apple Home Collection today, bringing cameras, a doorbell, a deadbolt lock and climate accessories that Apple says owners can configure from an iPhone without additional manufacturer apps or accounts (opens in a new tab). Availability starts in December, while selected products are scheduled to arrive in early 2027.

Apple developed the accessories with LG Electronics and Schneider Electric, and says owners can manage them through Apple Home or use Siri for control. Apple says every accessory supports Thread, while the thermostats, standalone climate sensors and Smart Deadbolt Lock also support Matter.

LG’s four cameras capture video at up to 2.5K resolution, and compatible models offer a 10-day event history with iCloud+. The Video Doorbell has two cameras, giving packages and visitors their own views, plus a spotlight. Its chime can sound on HomeView, HomePod or HomePod mini.

Door access and climate controls

LG’s Smart Deadbolt Lock supports Aliro and Apple home key alongside Matter. Ultra Wideband enables automatic unlocking as an authorised person approaches with a compatible iPhone or Apple Watch. A keypad PIN and concealed physical key provide additional ways to enter, while guest permissions are managed in the Home app.

According to Apple, core lock functions run locally, so users should retain door access and management during a home internet outage. Camera storage can also keep recordings going if Wi-Fi disconnects.

The collection includes thermostats from LG Electronics and Schneider Electric, designed for DIY installation with wire detection on the device. Adaptive Temperature uses intelligence on an iPhone to adjust compatible thermostats around occupancy, bedtime preparation and time away. For homes in the contiguous United States with a compatible utility plan, Clean Energy Guidance can shift heating and cooling toward periods with cleaner electricity or lower electricity costs.
