A dishwasher built around reusable drinkware

Midea launched the STRAWash™ Dishwasher with Total Tumbler Clean today, adding five dedicated jets for reusable straws to address the extra hand-washing that can follow a dishwasher cycle (opens in a new tab). The appliance is available at Lowe's and Best Buy, giving households that regularly use reusable drinkware two retailers to shop.
Midea says its straw basket holds reusable straws in position so high-pressure jets can wash their interior and exterior surfaces and help dislodge residue. The development followed dozens of visits to consumers' homes, where Midea's Consumer Insights team observed people setting aside drinkware parts for soaking or washing by hand because they doubted their dishwasher would clean them fully.
How it handles drinkware and drying
Total Tumbler Clean also provides separate zones to wash lids, bottles and tumblers, extending the drinkware features beyond the straw basket. Midea says the adjustable rack arrangements are intended to make room for reusable drinkware accessories while retaining flexibility for loading everyday dishes.
For drying, the dishwasher includes SENSOR TruDry™, which pairs moisture sensing with convection drying and an Auto-Open Door feature. Midea says that combination is intended to leave less moisture behind and improve drying results.
Households looking for a shorter cycle can select the 1-Hour Wash & Dry option, which includes both washing and drying. The dishwasher also offers a separate rapid-clean option lasting 30 minutes.
