Two new purifiers bring air readings to your phone
- PECOAir costs $499, and PECOAir+ costs $599.
- Both are available now exclusively through Molekule.com.
- Both offer app air monitoring. PECOAir+ adds an LCD touchscreen and expanded sensors.
Molekule today launched PECOAir for $499 and PECOAir+ for $599, pairing air purification with indoor air readings that users can view through the Molekule app (opens in a new tab). Both models are available now, with sales exclusive to Molekule.com.
The extra $100 for PECOAir+ buys a larger sensor suite, more detailed environmental trend data and an LCD touchscreen for viewing air-quality information on the purifier itself. Both models use PECO-HEPA Advanced Technology filtration, which combines HEPA media, activated carbon and a photocatalytic layer activated by UV-A.
Molekule says the app provides real-time air-quality information, while readings collected over time are intended to help users understand patterns in their indoor environment. The company also says future software updates will add monitoring functions, improve environmental insights and expand app features.
Filter upkeep and what each layer does
Molekule recommends replacing the filter every six months and says its hybrid filter was developed to maintain performance through that interval. According to Molekule, HEPA media trap particles including pollen, and activated carbon adsorbs some gases, odors and volatile organic compounds (VOCs). Molekule says the photocatalytic layer is engineered to destroy certain organic pollutants at the filter surface, including formaldehyde and biological contaminants.
Both purifiers come in three colorways and use medical grade polycarbonate bodies with a matte, micro-textured finish that Molekule describes as resistant to fingerprints.
