SwitchBot today announced SwitchBot Permanent Outdoor Lights, a 30m system for household spaces including porches, patios and eaves, combining decorative colors with dedicated LEDs for warm-white and cool-white illumination (opens in a new tab). It's available from SwitchBot's website and Amazon store at an MSRP of USD 239.99 / CAD 299.99.

The system distributes 72 LEDs among six segments measuring 5m each, with controls that let different colors appear simultaneously. Through the SwitchBot app, owners can set white-light temperatures between 2700K and 6500K and dim brightness from 1% to 100%. SwitchBot reports total output of up to 2,600 lm, based on its laboratory testing, with results varying according to operating conditions and lighting mode.

Native Matter over Wi-Fi connectivity removes the need for an extra SwitchBot Hub, though a Matter controller remains necessary. Supported platforms include Home Assistant, Apple Home and SmartThings, enabling voice commands, remote control and automations involving compatible devices from other brands.

Mounting and controls for outdoor routines

Included extension cables bridge spaces between lighting sections, allowing installations to span up to 36m. SwitchBot describes mounting with screws or 3M adhesive tape. It says tape suits compatible smooth surfaces, while screws add support on brick or rough wood.

The strings have an IP67 rating for dust and water resistance, while IP65 ratings apply to both the controller and power adapter. SwitchBot specifies operation between -4°F and 140°F and rates LED life at up to 55,000 hours.

The wired controller included with the lights offers switching and 10 brightness levels even without Wi-Fi. App controls add timers and schedules, while a built-in microphone lets lighting effects react to nearby audio.
