A pair of light bars that skip the hub

SwitchBot's new smart lighting is a two-bar set aimed at desks, gaming setups and movie nights, and it is already buyable rather than merely announced (opens in a new tab). The pair carries an MSRP of USD 45.99, with GBP 55.99 and CAD 59.99 listed for other regions. SwitchBot announced the product from Tokyo on Sept. 28, 2026.
The headline feature for anyone already running a smart home is Matter over Wi-Fi. The bars connect natively, so a SwitchBot Hub is not part of the setup. They work with Apple Home, Alexa, Google Home, SmartThings, Home Assistant and Homey. SwitchBot notes that third-party Matter integration still needs a compatible Matter Controller.
SwitchBot says its API supports custom lighting signals from AI agents running locally or in the cloud. Suggested uses include breathing light during processing, moving light during a task and color changes for completion or urgent alerts.
What the light itself can do
The set splits into 12 independently controllable color zones, six per bar, driven by 12 IC chips across the pair. SwitchBot rates the color range at 16 million colors and the white light from 2200K to 6500K, with dimming from 1% to 100%. SwitchBot rates combined white-light brightness at up to 800 lm and says measurements can differ by as much as ±20% with test conditions.
SwitchBot ships 26 preset dynamic effects and six music-reactive modes. Zone settings, music sync and dynamic effects are configured in the SwitchBot app. The app also handles colors, schedules, timers and automations, and the bars work alongside other SwitchBot devices and lighting. A wired controller and voice commands cover quick changes.
SwitchBot says the magnetic mounts attach to suitable metal surfaces, including desk frames. The bars also support horizontal or vertical placement and adhesive installation. Suggested locations include shelves and spaces behind screens.
