DR Power Equipment recalled its Pilot and Premier Trimmer Mowers today, affecting about 42,860 units, with about 340 more sold in Canada (opens in a new tab). Owners should immediately stop operating affected machines and ask the company for a repair kit at no charge.
Debris and grass buildup inside the machines can catch fire, creating fire and burn hazards that could cause serious injury or death. DR Power Equipment has received 19 incident reports involving fires in these trimmer mowers, including two reports of minor injuries such as blisters affecting hands and feet.
The machines cost between $380 and $550 and were sold from November 2022 through July 2026. Sellers included Bomgaars, Ace and TSC, along with hardware, home improvement and independent power equipment retailers nationwide, and the company's online store.
