New timers arrive through a software update

Zephyr says its HyperCore induction cooktop line can now take over-the-air software updates delivered over Wi-Fi, so the appliance can gain features after it is already in a kitchen (opens in a new tab). The company did not say when the update arrives, what it costs, or which regions will get it.
Zephyr says the update gives all four elements separate timers. After a timer ends, the interface can show how much additional time has passed until the user dismisses it. The revised information bar covers appliance details, including the battery and Wi-Fi connection, while information for individual elements includes power and temperature.
Zephyr President Luke Siow explained the ability to add features through software: "Its ability to receive over-the-air software updates means we can introduce new functionality and enhancements that help customers stay current with the latest HyperCore technology. This release is a great example of that capability in action."
What the cooktop itself offers
HyperCore comes in two widths, 30 inches and 36 inches. Zephyr says the recently introduced larger model retains the line's power and software capabilities. The company describes ExactTemp as technology that measures heat within cookware, beyond the surface underneath. It also says an internal battery supports peak performance and permits installation using a standard outlet rated at 120V or 240V.
The cooktop uses magnetic knobs that can be removed, which Zephyr says makes cleaning easier. Impulse powers HyperCore.
