Hands-free entry with an iPhone in your pocket
- ULTRALOQ Bolt Mission adds UWB-based hands-free unlocking.
- It supports Apple Home and uses the Xthings Home app for hands-free iPhone entry.
- Available from Amazon and ULTRALOQ.
ULTRALOQ Bolt Mission brings UWB-based hands-free unlocking to a smart lock compatible with Apple Home, with entry designed to work while an iPhone stays pocketed (opens in a new tab). It is available from Amazon and ULTRALOQ, alongside the new Bolt Pro and Latch 5 Pro.
Bolt Mission uses Bluetooth Low Energy for discovery, then combines UWB with radar-based presence detection to distinguish an approach from outdoors from movement inside the home. Its detection considers both distance and direction, rather than relying only on whether an authorized iPhone is nearby.
For hands-free iPhone entry, the Xthings Home app runs in the background as the owner approaches. The approach-detection logic operates locally between the phone and lock, without needing an internet cloud service or an indoor hub for that decision.
Choose between approaching and tapping
Bolt Pro and Latch 5 Pro offer another entry method through Aliro certification, supporting wallet taps with Apple Wallet and Samsung Wallet. Those models do not use Apple Home Key, so Apple Home compatibility should not be confused with support for that particular unlocking method.
Bolt Pro uses a deadbolt format, while Latch 5 Pro fits lever-style entrances, including home-office doors and doors connecting a garage to the house. Each also accepts fingerprints and PINs, supports control through an app, and includes a physical key as a backup. Matter certification extends across the three models, with support for Amazon Alexa, Apple Home and Google Home.
