What this filter does for your kitchen tap
- Rated flow reaches up to 1.59 GPM, which the maker says fills an 8-ounce cup in about 2.3 seconds.
- It suits cold municipal supply only, not hot water or well water.
The Waterdrop TST-UF is a three-stage system that mounts beneath your counter and treats cold water from a municipal supply. Its six-layer stack includes a precision ultrafiltration membrane rated to reduce impurities larger than 0.01 microns, and it goes after chlorine, heavy metals and odors as well. What it does not do is lower TDS. Minerals such as potassium, calcium, sodium and magnesium stay in the glass.
We'd consider this for a household that wants better tasting water from the existing tap without adding a second drinking faucet, since none comes in the box. If you fill kettles, mix drinks or cook with tap water daily, the reusable stainless housing is meant to reduce how often you toss plastic casing.
What the price includes
The system is $149.99, against a typical price of $175.03 over the last 90 days. That works out to $25.04 less, roughly 14 percent. The number covers the housing, not the cartridges you'll swap later, so plan for those separately. The PP stage is listed at 6 to 8 months, the UF stage at a year, and the CT stage at 12 to 24 months, so replacements fall on three different schedules.

Fitting it under your counter
You can set the unit on the cabinet floor, hang it on the wall, or mount it at the faucet without extra drilling if space is tight. It ties into 3/8-inch or 1/2-inch female NPT threads on your cold line. If your faucet uses a quick-connect fitting, request the free adapter from Waterdrop before you start.
The body is 304 stainless steel with a thick sealing ring, a sensible pick for a damp cabinet. Waterdrop supplies installation videos and instructions, so the DIY path is reasonable if you're comfortable with basic plumbing. Otherwise budget for a plumber. Measure the footprint against your disposal, pipework and stored supplies first.
When this filter is the wrong choice
Skip it if you're on well water or want to reduce TDS. It's built for municipal supply and holds dissolved minerals in, so it won't soften water or move a TDS reading. That also rules it out for anyone chasing reverse-osmosis or distilled purity.
It's also not the pick if you have a coconut allergy, since the carbon stage uses coconut shell material. If you need hot water filtered, look elsewhere, because this connects to the cold line only.
