The job it handles at your front door

Before bringing it home
  • Best for households that want hands-free entry and remote access.
  • Seven entry methods mean each person can pick what suits them.

Picture coming home with groceries or a sleeping toddler. Your hands are full, but the door reads your face and lets you in. That is the routine this lock is built for. It replaces your existing deadbolt and gives your household several ways through the same door.

You get face recognition that works in darkness, palm vein reading from three to ten inches without contact, and a fingerprint sensor that stores up to 90 prints. A PIN, an NFC card, the app, and a physical key round out the list. We'd consider this a strong fit for a busy household where one member hates fingerprints and another never carries keys.

The lock connects directly to WiFi, so you can check who came home and manage access from the SwitchBot app without buying a hub. It also works with Matter over WiFi across Apple Home, Alexa, Google, and Home Assistant.

What this price means

At $169.99, this sits below the typical price over the last 90 days of $194.13. That works out to $24.14 less, or about 12 percent off. There is no a monthly app subscription tied to the lock's core features.

Fit, power, and daily use

Installation replaces your existing deadbolt with a Phillips screwdriver, and SwitchBot lists a 15-minute DIY job. Check your door first: it fits crossbores of 38 or 54mm, door thickness from 35 to 55mm, and backsets of 60 or 70mm. The included SwitchBot cylinder is the only one supported, so plan around that.

The main battery is 10,000mAh and rated for up to 12 months, with a CR123A backup that holds 500 emergency unlocks and five years of standby. A USB-C port takes any power bank if you ever need a top-up. The lock senses the door closing and engages automatically, which matters when you are rushing out with your hands full.

When you should look elsewhere

This lock is not the right pick if your door falls outside the listed crossbore, thickness, or backset ranges, or if you want to keep your current lock cylinder. It also may not suit a household that wants the simplest possible single-method lock rather than seven ways in. If your priority is a basic keypad deadbolt with fewer sensors and less setup, a simpler model could serve you better.
