Dyson Purifier Cool PC1 at $399.99 for Air and Cooling

Purifying and cooling a shared room

This is one machine for two jobs. It pulls air through a carbon filter for gases and odors and a HEPA filter rated to catch 99.97% of particles down to 0.3 microns, then pushes the cleaned air back out as a fan. We'd consider it for a bedroom, living room or home office where you want filtered air and moving air from a single tower, with control from the app or the included remote.

The bladeless tower moves over 76 gallons per second of airflow and swings up to 350 degrees, so you can aim it around a room instead of at one seat. It also reports on odors like cooking, pet and smoke smells. If you only need filtration and already have cooling sorted, a simpler purifier can do the air job alone.

What this price means

You're paying $399.99, which is $77.75 below the typical price over the last 90 days of $477.74. That's about 16% off what this tower has usually sold for recently.

Room fit, filters and placement

This is a large tower, so give it floor space and enough clearance around the base for air to move freely. Apps, schedules and voice control mean you can mostly leave it alone once it's placed. Keep the remote on the machine with the magnetized curve when you're not using it.

The filters are consumable, so the running cost depends on how often they need replacing. Check the current filter price and the replacement interval for your use before you commit.

When to skip this one

Skip it if you want a cheap purifier only, or if you need a fan for a wide area rather than one tower's directional flow. It's also the wrong fit if app and voice control aren't useful to you and you'd rather not pay for them. Confirm the room size you need to cover and whether that area suits a single oscillating tower.
