The lock you run through your hub, not a Yale app

Before bringing it home
  • Before bringing it home: confirm your hub supports Z-Wave locks, because control and automation features vary by controller.
  • It replaces an existing deadbolt on standard doors measuring 1-3/4 to 2-1/4 inches thick using a screwdriver, with no new holes required.
  • Mounting hardware and batteries are included.

If you already have a Z-Wave hub like Ring Alarm or Samsung SmartThings, this deadbolt becomes part of that system rather than adding another app to your phone. You can enter a code on the backlit keypad or unlock remotely through the hub's interface.

We'd consider it for a front door where you want codes for family and guests plus the option of auto relock, as long as you're comfortable managing access alongside your other sensors. There's no Yale app, so your hub is the control point.

What $189.00 buys and how it compares

At $189.00, you're paying $33.61 less than the typical price over the last 90 days of $222.61, a 15 percent difference. That's a real gap against the typical price over the last 90 days, not a markdown from a typical price over the last 90 days.

Keep in mind the Z-Wave hub is sold separately, so the total cost of smart control includes hardware you may already own.

Fitting it and keeping it running

Installation is aimed at standard doors with an existing deadbolt, so no new holes are needed. The lock runs on batteries, and replacements are a recurring cost worth budgeting for.

The keypad is backlit for entering codes after dark. Because the lock depends on your Z-Wave network, think about signal reach from the hub to the door before you commit.

When a hub-free lock makes more sense

Skip this if you don't have a compatible Z-Wave hub and don't want to add one. Without that system, the remote features and app control simply aren't available.

If you want a lock that works with its own app out of the box, this isn't it. The Z-Wave requirement is the deciding factor, so check your hub's supported devices first.
